Irfan Ahmad

Founder, CEO

Irfan is a tech entrepreneur and a successful early-stage investor with a passion is helping startup founders achieve traction earlier than most think possible. Irfan was the co-founder and CTO of CloudPhysics, and also worked at VMware for 9 years as tech lead for VMware’s flagship DRS product suite ($1B ARR) where he pioneered self-learning algorithms in the datacenter. Irfan also worked at Transmeta, Autodesk, Toronto Stock Exchange, Canada Trust (now TD) and the Museum of Steam and Technology.

Irfan received his pink tie from the University of Waterloo with a degree in Mathematics & Computer Science. He holds 40+ patents and has authored several award-winning research papers. Irfan routinely serves as referee in peer-reviewed academic conferences and journals. 

Jacob Gorm Hansen

Engineering

Jacob Gorm Hansen has a long track record of innovative computer systems research, including the award-winning “VM live migration” technique for uninterrupted relocation of workloads in a data center became an enabling technology of cloud computing, which deployed by all major cloud providers today.

Jacob holds a BA in psychology, a BS, MSc and a Ph.D. in computer science, all from the University of Copenhagen, and has been a visiting scholar at the University of Washington.

Steve Francis

Board Member

Steve is a serial entrepreneur and gifted product strategist with a 30-year career ranging from hands-on software engineer to public company CEO. After graduating from Stanford University, Steve helped pioneer the field of omnifont optical character recognition in a variety of roles at Calera recognition Systems. 

Steve co-founded Pixel Translations, developers of ISIS (Image and Scanner Interface Specification) international standard for document scanner control. More recently, he was CEO of Avtrex, leading its software licensing business before the acquisition of Avtrex by Intel.

Ymir Vigfusson

Advisor

Ymir Vigfusson is a Scientific Advisor to Magnition, helping bring insights from the academy on the theory of caching, storage, and memory systems into practical advances for complex customer platforms.
 
Ymir is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Emory University, where he co-runs the Emory Simbiosys lab, and a co-founder of two startups.

Nohhyun Park

Advisor

Nohhyun Park has an extensive career as a leading software engineer at various tecnology startups including Rubrik (via acquisition of Datos IO), and CloudPhysics. 

Nohhyun was a Student in University of Minnesota from August 2007 to August 2013. He also joined early internship at VMware, Data Domain, and LSI.  

Eric Wright

Advisor

Eric Wright is Chief Content Officer at GTM Delta, and advisor to Magnition. He most recently worked as a Technology Evangelist and Principal Solutions Engineer with Turbonomic which was acquired by IBM in 2021.

Eric studied Information Technology Management at Ryerson University and Behavioral Psychology at York University and also serves as an advisor to multiple startups with a focus on creating meaningful relationships and empowering customers.
